The Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship

We are thrilled to announce that BIMM University has partnered with multi-BAFTA-winning television producer, Nicola Shindler OBE’s production company, Quay Street Productions for the Future Talent Scholarship for students applying to Screen and Film School Manchester.

Nicola is widely known for her outstanding work on a wide range of British television dramas, including Queer as Folk, Happy Valley, Nolly and Fool Me Once. Over a career spanning thirty years, Nicola is a leading name in British television production. She has also been patron of our Screen and Film School Manchester campus since 2022.

Quay Street Productions was set up by Shindler in 2021 with the aim of creating contemporary, provocative and engaging drama for UK and global audiences. Already a valued industry partner for Screen and Film School Manchester, Quay Street Productions is committed to putting writers and talent central to the production process, and to championing diversity in storytelling for television.

Applicable to students starting their course in September 2024, the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship will provide full tuition fees for an undergraduate candidate who is from an underrepresented background and/or low household income. The scholarship aims to support individuals who demonstrate talent, strong creative vision, and a passion for using film to drive positive social change.

The scholarship will be awarded to an eligible first-year undergraduate student at Screen and Film School Manchester, studying BA (Hons) Filmmaking or BA (Hons) Film Business and Production.

We understand the financial challenges of pursuing a creative degree, which is why we offer a range of scholarships and bursaries to help you achieve you goals.


Who can apply

You can apply for the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship if you meet all the following criteria:

  • You are applying for an eligible undergraduate degree at Screen and Film School Manchester that starts in September 2024
  • You are a UK national with a home fee status
  • You are from a low household income* and/or an under-represented group in higher education. This includes:
    • Students from a global majority background Students who have experience in care or are estranged
    • Mature students
    • Students who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community or are from a gender-diverse background
    • Disabled students *

Student Finance England (SFE) offers a full maintenance grant to students with a household income of £25,000 or less.


How to apply

First, you must apply for an undergraduate degree course at Screen and Film School Manchester starting in September 2024. Once you have applied, you will be sent a scholarship application form.

Applications for the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship close on 12th July 2024. Scholarships will only be awarded to those who go onto accept an offer from Screen and Film School Manchester and complete the enrolment process.

Applications for the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship 2024 have now closed.


What happens next

A panel will assess your application, and we will contact you as soon as possible regarding the outcome.

As this is a competitive process and there are a limited number of scholarships available, we strongly recommend that all applicants follow the usual processes to secure student funding.

Where appropriate, successful applicants will be able to amend/cancel their request for financial support from Student Finance England once their scholarship has been awarded. Applying to the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship will not exclude you from accessing university hardship funds or the Fair Access Fund.
