David Poole

Head Of Year 1 *

David F Poole is a writer and director based in Birmingham. His short films have been funded and broadcast by the BBC, nominated for RTS Midlands awards and screened across the UK. He has participated in talent labs with BFI NETWORK, London Screenwriters Festival and Directors UK, and been mentored by directors Lewis Arnold (BBC One - Time, ITV - Des) and Paris Zarcilla (BIFA nominee – Pommel).

David also has a strong background in artist moving image as a visual artist, exhibiting at institutions like Grand Union, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Selfridges department stores. He has been commissioned by blue chip firms like CBRE and shortlisted for commissions by the Royal College of Art.

Since 2018, David has taught film workshops for organisations including Barbican Centre, Hereford College of Arts and homeless charity Crisis. Empowering the creativity of society’s most vulnerable or overlooked communities is an essential component of his filmmaking philosophy.
