12 Days of Christmas: Week 2 Unwrapped

18 December, 2020

Welcome back to Screen and Film School Brighton’s 12 Days of Christmas: Week 2 Unwrapped!

On each of the week days leading up to Christmas we’ve been releasing our recorded Masterclasses, Tech Talks, and Tales From The Front Line sessions on our student platform Screen and Film School Connect.

As the weather gets colder and the nights grow even longer, this is the perfect opportunity for our students to get cosy and catch up with any sessions they might’ve missed over the semester, or just re-live the fantastic and thought-provoking conversations we’ve had with our guests, including Elena Andreicheva, Charlotte Bruus Christensen, Gareth Evans and, of course, Russell T. Davies!

But don’t worry- if you aren’t able to access our exclusive student platform we aren’t forgetting about you! Each week we’ll be releasing a series of clips from these sessions right here. Grab a cup of cocoa, put your feet up and relax as you catch up with this week’s highlights.

Not caught up with last week’s highlights? They’re right here!

Malcolm Davies is currently working on The Essex Serpent for Apple TV Plus, and has spent the last 15 years working on projects of all sizes, starting out as a floor runner and moving up the ladder to 1st AD.

As well as being 1st AD for numerous short films, corporates and promos, he was 1st AD for the Award Winning Feature film In Our Name, for which, along with the production team, he was nominated for Best Achievement in Production at the Moet British Independent Film Awards 2010. In his capacity as a 2nd AD, his long list of credits includes Black Mirror, Great Expectations, The Diary Of Anne Frank, Rev, New Tricks and two series of the hit BBC show Luther.

Malcolm was interviewed by our 3rd year student, Jordi Torrens Heppell in a session that really demystified the various roles along the Assistant Director career journey!

Want to host your own Masterclass or Tech Talk? Don’t forget that you can always send suggestions and requests to [email protected] and we’ll do our very best to get you connected with the people you want to talk to!
