Quay Street Productions Named Scholarship Partner for Screen and Film School Manchester

Screen and Film School Manchester is delighted to announce that Quay Street Productions, the television production house founded by multi-BAFTA-winner, Nicola Shindler, is the advocate for Screen and Film School Manchester’s brand-new scholarship.

Nicola Shindler has had an illustrious career in the television industry for the last thirty years. She has won no less than eleven BAFTAs for her work on renowned British TV dramas including Queer as Folk, Nolly, Fool Me Once, and Happy Valley. She has been patron of the Screen and Film School Manchester campus since 2022.

The Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship

Applicable to students beginning their degree in September 2024, the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship will provide full three-year tuition fees for a candidate from a low-income household, and/or an underrepresented group in higher education.

The scholarship will assist new students who demonstrate talent in their chosen discipline, strong creative potential, and a desire to pursue a career in the film and TV industries. It will support eligible undergraduate students studying screen and film degrees at Screen and Film School Manchester.

Who can apply for the scholarship?

You can apply for the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship if you meet all the following criteria:

  • You are applying for an undergraduate degree at Screen and Film School Manchester that starts in September 2024.
  • Your chosen course is one of the following:
    • BA (Hons) Filmmaking
    • BA (Hons) Film Business and Production
  • You are a UK national with home fee status.
  • You are from a low income* household and/or an underrepresented group in higher education. This includes:
    • Students from a global majority background.
    • Students who have experience in care or are estranged.
    • Mature students.
    • Students who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, or are from a gender-diverse background.
    • Disabled students.

*Student Finance England (SFE) also offers a full maintenance grant to students with a household income of £25,000 or less.

How to Apply

You will first need to apply for an eligible undergraduate degree course at Screen and Film School Manchester starting in September 2024.

Once you have applied and have your applicant ID, please complete the scholarship application form below.

Applications for the Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship close on 12th July 2024. Scholarships will only be awarded to those who go on to accept an offer from Screen and Film School Manchester and complete the enrolment process.

What happens next?

A panel will assess your application and we will contact you as soon as possible regarding the outcome. As this is a competitive process and there are a limited number of scholarships available, we strongly recommend that all applicants follow the usual processes to secure student funding. Where appropriate, successful applicants will be able to amend or cancel their request for financial support from Student Finance England once their scholarship has been awarded.

Applying for The Quay Street Productions Future Talent Scholarship will not exclude you from accessing university hardship funds or the Fair Access Fund.
