Virtual Open Day FAQs

1 October, 2020

Due to the current social distancing measures in the UK, we’ve decided to move our upcoming open days online. Unfortunately this means we won’t be able to welcome you into our buildings, but we’ve been working hard to make sure you’ll still get the full Screen and Film School Open Day experience!

We’ve put together a list of FAQs below for everything you need to know about our Virtual Open Days.

How do I sign up to Screen and Film School’s Virtual Open Days?

Signing up is easy- just head to our Open Day page on our website for our full list of Virtual Open Days and click the Registration Now Open link next to your preferred date. This will take you through to each open day’s designated Eventbrite page where you can fill in your details and reserve your space.

Can I invite guests who aren’t living with me?

Of course! We understand that you may want to share this experience with people that you aren’t living with, please ask them to register their attendance separately, so that we can send them a Zoom link.

How do I join a Virtual Open Day?

Our Virtual Open Days are being run on Zoom. Our Admissions Team will be in touch before the event with the link so you can easily join.

How long does a Virtual Open Day last?

Please allow 2 – 2.5 hours for the entire open day. We pack as much as we can into this time so that you get the most from the experience before the dreaded ‘Zoom fatigue’ sets in.

I’m interested in the Brighton Campus- will we hear more about the city?

You’ll hear all about why Brighton is the ultimate film city, including key aspects of Brighton life. We’ll touch on the city’s culture, local and national film industry connections, accommodation tips and more!

I’m interested in the Manchester Campus- will we hear more about the city?

Manchester is a highly creative city with a diverse cultural scene and a wealth of theatres, galleries, live music and cinemas which you’ll hear all about at the Open Day!

Who will I be hearing from?

At our Virtual Open Days you’ll be hearing from our College Principal, our Lecturers, our Admissions Team and some of our Graduates.

Where possible, we’ll also be including workshops from our lecturers, to give you a sense of what a class at Screen and Film School is like.

Will I get to ask questions?

Asking questions is definitely encouraged! There’s a chat function on Zoom which you can use throughout the session to ask any questions you have – our friendly Admissions Team will be on hand to answer them for you.

We recommend considering what sorts of questions you’d like to ask beforehand, so that you get the most from the event.

Will there be a workshop?

Yes! Just like our in-person Open Days, we will include workshops where possible, to give you a sense of the types of things you’ll be learning whilst studying with us.

Do I have to attend on a laptop or can I join from a tablet/mobile?

You can attend on whatever device suits you best as the Zoom app is available on many mobile, laptop and desktop devices.

Will a recording of the session be sent if I can’t make the Virtual Open Day?

The session will be recorded incase you have any issues that stop you attending, such as a loss of internet connection. Please notify us to receive a recorded video of the event.
