Luke Perrett

Edit assistant at Virtual Post

Luke is an Edit assistant, who graduated from Screen and Film School Brighton in 2019.

As soon as he graduated from Screen and Film School Brighton, Luke was offered work experience at one of our industry partners – a video games company in Brighton called Electric Square. Whilst there, he shadowed the Lead Sound Designers there and was taught how to use FMOD which is the software they use to implement sound into games.

Through this work experience, Luke was connected to the Head of Post Production Sound at Pinewood/Shepperton Studios. There he undertook one week of work experience and then was offered a job as an Audio Editor/Runner. With both of these roles, Luke got to work on feature films, audiobooks and games, all whilst learning new software and making great connections and friends.

Luke is currently working as an Edit assistant at Virtual Post.

What were the most valuable skills you gained at Screen and Film School?

“I learned that film school is as much about making connections and socialising with other filmmakers as it is about learning to make films. Film is so collaborative. So, it’s important to build those bonds and people skills.”

What advice would you offer current students at Screen and Film School?

“Always put in the extra time and grab opportunities available. Screen and Film School have so many connections, so if you put in the time and show you’re passionate you will be put forward for opportunities. I also recommend just always being creative outside of school too and building your portfolio as much as possible.”
