Outreach and School Liaison

Screen and Film School’s free outreach programme aims to inspire and educate the next generation of filmmakers whilst raising awareness of the vast and exciting range of careers in the British film industry.

Inclusivity and Employability

We are extremely passionate about higher education being available to all people regardless of their background, age, ethnicity, or support needs. Through our free outreach programme, we make a conscious effort to visit and support schools and colleges around the UK to inspire and advocate the film and television industry.

In line with this, Screen and Film School focuses heavily on employability and industry through our strong partnerships with valuable industry contacts, offering 2–4 week work placements as well as internship opportunities.

“Thank you so much that was great. I will certainly invite you in again to talk to other groups as the talk was really inspirational and motivating for the students. I think some who did not want to move onto higher education are now thinking about it and said that were going to do research on Film Schools.”

What we do with our partnerships

Our industry professionals and outreach team make regular visits to colleges, sixth forms, schools and UCAS Fairs. These are fantastic opportunities to provide prospective students, parents, and teachers with an insight into the film industry, the world of education, as well as offering advice on career progression.

We would welcome the opportunity to visit your school or college to provide engaging, educational talks on career opportunities in the film industry. Furthermore, we can offer advice on how students can start to build a portfolio, ready for applying to higher education or opportunities within the creative industries.

Alternatively, you can bring your students to any one of our three locations and experience our fantastic facilities in person. Get involved in a practical, hands-on film workshop, with first-class kit including cameras, lighting, sound and of course, the classic clapper.

Talks range from 30 to 60 minutes, whilst allowing time for questions. Our workshops are tailored to your needs, we can cover anything film-related, such as post-production, lighting, filming techniques, art department, hair and make-up and much more. Led by our industry lecturers, these workshops last between 45 minutes to half a day based on your requirements, and it all comes at no cost to you.

Open Days

We would encourage you to book onto one of our open days to visit our Film Schools and experience first-hand what we can offer to you as a future filmmaker. As well as this, you will be able to meet our lecturers and current students, plus get a feel for the surrounding city.

We open our doors each year in a series of Open Days. Please book your place at our next Open Day.
