Brighton is the ultimate cosmopolitan city for a student filmmaker. With breath-taking locations on your door step such as the beach and the South Downs countryside and a range of vibrant nightlife hot spots, Brighton is one of the most colourful and creative cities to live in the UK.
There are several accommodation options you can choose from during your time at Screen and Film School:
PRIVATE RENTING WITH SCREEN AND FILM SCHOOL STUDENTS
Some of our students share privately rented houses throughout their time on the course to fully immerse themselves in the film school experience. Our friendly Admissions team will help you find the right housemates and advise you on trusted landlord and estate agents you can rent from.
Halls of residence can be very expensive and this is a cost-effective way of living in the centre of Brighton, getting to know your fellow classmates and plunge into the world of studying filmmaking.

PRIVATE HALLS OF RESIDENCE
Abacus House is an exciting new development of shared-student accommodation and studio flats centrally located on bustling London Road, Brighton – just 5 minutes’ walk from Screen and Film School. The new build is predominantly booked out by Sussex University which makes for an enriched experience for our students hoping to meet and live with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
The residence offers a range of spacious en-suite studios flats. All are finished to a very high standard with ¾ beds, deluxe en-suite shower rooms, and well-thought-out study space. Studios have contemporary fitted kitchens in-room. Your room will also include all utility bills, contents insurance and broadband connection at no extra charge.
The friendly on-site management team are always available to answer any queries or help you with any problems you may have, and the maintenance team are always at the ready to assist you with any repairs you might need done. The safety and security of residents is hugely important to The Student Housing Company, and the residence is only accessible using a secure electronic key.
You can find out more information about Abacus House here.
Please note that the Abacus Halls are managed independently by the Student Housing Company and not Screen and Film School. It is your responsibility to manage your accommodation whilst a student at the film school and all contracts signed, agreed and adhered to are between you and the Student Housing Company. This represents one option for your accommodation whilst you study with us but we would also advise that you investigate the private rental market which is buoyant in the local area and decide which is the best option for you. Accommodation at the Abacus Hall is limited and on a first come, first served basis. If you are unsuccessful in your application, it is your responsibility to find other suitable accommodation elsewhere.
