Staff insight

Milda Baginskate, Filmmaking Course Leader at Screen and Film School Manchester had the following to say about this exciting news:

“The MA at our Manchester campus is such an exciting opportunity for filmmakers to step their game up and create something A-list festival ready. We aim to inspire ambitious, impactful, and original storytelling, setting our students up for a strong entry into film and TV head of department roles.”

Milda Baginskate

David Thompson, Head of School, added:

“The MA is a natural step, either for those wanting to specialise and refine a specific filmmaking HoD role, or transition from another subject area in to a practical, industry-focused and industry-connected course. We will provide the springboard to launch the careers of talented filmmakers, who will become the new voices of film and TV drama in the north. We have the connections, the insight and the facilities to provide students with the platform they deserve to succeed. I am particularly excited by the talented array of mentors, to provide the connections and guidance for student success, and can’t wait to get started this September.”

Industry Connected

The programme offers students tailored mentor support from our extensive Manchester based industry partners across all the specialism areas, allowing students to build networks and gain valuable industry insights. The MA Screen & Film Production can be studied full time, allowing students to engage with intensive study, or part time as further career and skills development alongside working. This flexibility allows the course to appeal to current industry practitioners wishing to develop their craft or those wanting a career change taking transferable skills into the filmmaking industry.

Based at Riverside Studios in Spinningfields, Screen and Film School Manchester’s MA students will be situated within an urban hub of screen industry production companies and collaborators, such as Aviva Studios (Factory International), Quay St Productions and Versa Studios to name a few. Our Manchester campus is also a short tram journey away from Media City, Salford (BBC, ITV, Dock10).
