Tuesday 11th April, 10am – Cinematography

Introduction to Cinematography with Anya Krasnikova

Find out what a Cinematographer does in this bite size workshop with Anya Krasnikova. Explore the roles of different crew members within the Cinematography department and look at ways Camera, Grip and Lighting can all be used to tell a story. This is a great tool to learn early on to help set your scenes and imagination with any future projects coming up.

Anya is an experienced Cinematographer, and her resume includes, feature films, commercials, music videos and much more. Anya is one of the Cinematography Lecturers here at Screen and Film School, Brighton.

Wednesday 12th April, 10am – Screenwriting

Do you want to be a Screenwriter? with Sarah Drew

Delve into storytelling and screenwriting with Screen and Film School Birmingham lecturer Sarah Drew. Sarah’s credits include her WW1 biopic Across The Line which has been optioned by Cannibal Films and starts shooting in 2022. She also produced Justine by BAFTA-winning writer Jeff Murphy which was nominated for a British Independent Film Award in 2020.

Sarah will be talking you through conventional narrative structure, how to write better scenes and how to add subtext to your script. Giving you everything you need to get your script shoot ready!

Thursday 13th April, 10am – Production Design

Set Design For Screen – Character, Story & Plot with Samantha Babrovskie

This session will introduce you to the wonderful, visual role of the Production Designer, the creator of the worlds we see on our screens. Focusing on how character and script analysis is fundamental to the start of the design process, this masterclass will describe how Production Designers use visual clues to describe, character, story and plot through set design.

Screen and Film School Manchester and Birmingham lecturer, Samantha Babrovskie will be running this session, with some interactive participation involved in discovering visual clues around you, to describe yourself as a movie character!

Friday 14th April, 10am – Post Production

Post-production: editing and creating visual effects with Chris Johnson

Have you ever seen a film with great special effects and wondered ‘how did they make that?’ Have you wanted to be film or video editor, and wondered what the job prospects are in the post-production industry?

Hosted by Chris Johnson, a veteran video and digital artist in the media and video game industry, this workshop will you teach about the magic of editing and how content can be transformed and enhanced using Visual Effects (VFX). Using Adobe Suite, Chris will demonstrate how to create simple but effective VFX, that can be applied when editing anything from music videos to film trailers. With the ever-expanding world of VFX and CGI, join us to find out more about this exciting industry, which is very much the future of the film industry!
