David Thompson

David is a filmmaker with extensive industry experience having worked both nationally and internationally for over a decade. Previously running an art house cinema, writing and directing his own feature film, producing on numerous shorts and making films in many roles across different platforms. Working for companies including Universal Pictures, ABC, BBC, ITV, C4, Film4, Channel 5, Discovery, Al Rayan, Teachers TV, Audi, IKEA, Jet2 and EMI amongst others.

With eight years teaching and leadership experience both academically and commercially, he joins us from Manchester Metropolitan University where he worked in Filmmaking curriculum development and programme leadership, whilst building the staff team and establishing industry links. Passionate about storytelling, screen drama and the student learning process, he has published in Film pedagogy and is a Filmmaking PhD candidate.
