Enterprise City: Manchester’s thriving film scene

22 April, 2021

Welcome to the newest up and coming area of Manchester’s thriving film scene: Enterprise City!

Screen and Film School Manchester’s brand new campus Riverside Studios, proudly sits within Manchester’s new creative energy, Enterprise City. This state-of-the-art area is being transformed from its exciting roots as the very first television hub in the North, Granada Studios, into a new creative energy and ethos. Once the home to ground-breaking British shows such as Prime Suspect, Cracker, Band of Gold, Cold Feet and the evergreen Coronation Street, it was also home to The Beatles first ever live TV performance in 1962.

Now being reborn for a new age, Enterprise City includes redevelopment of the ABC Buildings, Manchester Studios, Bonded Warehouse and creating a new home for Manchester International Festival, The Factory, a monumental architectural achievement.

Students at Riverside Studios will be on the doorstep of exciting companies such as industry partner The Mob Film Co.and Farm, the largest post-production company in the North of England. As well as Studio Lambert and Title role at the ABC, drama productions are now beginning to run productions from this city centre hub.

We are shaping a new generation of creatives, it’s a truly international centre that will create a unique home for media and production in the North of England, building on the legacy of Old Granada Studios a new future is forged, and Screen and Film School Manchester students will be at the heart of it!

Mel Jones, Managing Director of Manchester Studios said:

“The arrival of Screen and Film School Manchester in Enterprise City is a really exciting new addition to the creative and media community we have been building in the city centre over the last few years. Their new home, sitting closely alongside the relaunched Manchester Studios complex, will offer great opportunities for interaction and collaboration between students and the existing companies based here. Having the Screen and Film School students at the heart of Enterprise City will bring a new energy to the area and we can’t wait to see how that develops in the coming years.”

Join us at Screen and Film School Manchester in 2021, and be part of the vision to create something extraordinary recapturing the spirit of an era with a fresh new start.
