As the good news about the vaccine rollout continues, the world as we used to know it feels closer than ever before. Now that the sun has started to find its way out, it’s not hard to imagine our brilliant cities awash with events and opportunities, feeding those electric atmospheres that make each of them unique.

With the recent announcements that Brighton Fringe Festival and Brighton & Hove Pride are confirmed for May and August respectively, we’re sure that Brighton is going to be absolutely buzzing this summer. Parklife Festival will be returning to Manchester in September; we can’t wait to hear more about the line up that will surely be creating the party of the year. Similarly, the creative cluster of Digbeth will be welcomed warmly by all- we’re looking forward to lounging back and soaking up the summer evening sun whilst watching a classic at the Brindleyplace Film Festival!

It’s not just social events we have to look forward to- projects all across the UK from ITV, BBC, Sky, Netflix, Disney+ and more, are being given the green light to start production, proving there’s never been a better time to get into the film industry. Cinemas across England are also set to reopen from May 17th, much to our relief- popcorn just isn’t the same when you’re eating it from a bag in your own home!

We can’t wait to welcome small groups of guests onsite and offer personal tours of our state-of-the-art facilities at our Brighton campus from the 12th April, and from the 22nd May we’re thrilled to be opening our buildings up to In-Person Open Days! These events will get you involved in workshops with our lecturers and graduates, introduce you to current students, tell you all about our courses and give you the opportunity to ask our career teams about how studying at Screen and Film School can help you forge a career in the film, television and screen industry. 100% of open day visitors said their Open Day experience was excellent or good and 98% would apply to Screen and Film School after attending an Open Day.

We understand that choosing to apply to higher education is a big decision and we know that this year has often offered more questions than answers. Rest assured, we’re here to support you and we’re back producing the next generation of filmmakers in our industry-led film schools. Keep an eye on our socials over the next few weeks as we highlight all of the exciting initiatives coming out of our colleges. We can’t wait to welcome you in September 2021.

Lights, Camera, Action! The world is on it’s way back- and so are we.
